Lates news - November 2011

  • The Psychic supper event on 7th October 2011 was well attended and the readings were very well received by the people that came along. Sadly the Aura photographer was unwell and could not attend, but we hope to see her next time. Please check out the pictures in Gallery.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the staff and chefs at the Thames Café, Northwood Place for looking after us so well. The event raised £150 for the work that Feel Good Co-operative does to bring affordable therapies to the people of Thamesmead so thank you to all that came along, donated raffle prizes and supported the evening. There is a similar event planned for March 2012 – contact us via email to be put on the list for information about it after Christmas.
  • Sadly Sandy Trott has had to step aside as Chair/Co-ordinator, and Harry Hull has had to resign, both due to family commitments. Pat Miller has also had to leave, due to health issues. We all wish them and their families well for the future. Sandy will still be available as a part time advisor/accounts clerk for the time being.
  • The procedure for making appointments and booking therapists for events is still the same, but Paula Cave-Ayland, who is very experienced and an extremely competent replacement, will be the main contact in future. We do hope that you will continue to support the Feel Good Co-operative and please do not hesitate to contact Paula for further information about this change over.
  • The trustees have begun to take a more active role in the administration of Feel Good Co-operative and we would like to welcome:

    Bob Lusher
    Sorinda Bridgewater
    Beryl White
    Wanda Bernabé

formally to their new positions, please see their pictures in the Gallery (Beryl White’s picture is to follow).

May we also tell you about some of the events that we recently attended:

  • We were please to support M.A.T/Trust Thamesmead’s Harvest Market with some of the 200+ visitors to the event having a 15 minute treatment for the very small cost of £5. A big well done to M.A.T/Trust Thamesmead and everyone involved for organising it. We are sure any future similar events would be just as successful.
  • We also attended a Home Start meeting at Waterways Children’s Centre event on 28th September. One of our therapists gave short Back Massage Taster Treatments to the mothers there. It turned out to be a popular event and really enjoyable.

Waterways CC are offering us the use of a room in the Centre. We would be able to provide treatments to anyone who lives in the Thamesmead area. The cost of the therapies would be the same low cost as those available to patients at Lakeside or Gallions Reach surgeries. Watch this space for further news.
  • In Dartford on the 4th of October two of out therapists gave Massage Tasters to Occupational Therapists during their “Away Day” (an update and training day). They were very well received.
  • Three of our therapists were at the Somali Women’s Health Day at Glyndon Community Centre. We were giving short treatments of Head Massage and Back Massage either with oils or through the clothes. Our services were much in demand throughout the day.
  • At a Community Open Day in Mulberry Park Children’s Centre on November 5th, two therapists attended to give Back Massage and to make people aware that they will be able to access our services from Waterways CC.

HOT NEWS OFF THE PRESS

  • Bullbanks Medical Centre, Belvedere has generously offered us a room to work in and we are in discussions at present to finalise the arrangements for our regular one afternoon a week sessions. We hope to start these sessions during November.

Please feel free to contact Feel Good Co-operative for any questions you may have with regard to the above, and thank you all for your support and interest in the work we do.
